Frequently asked questions…

Will I receive treatment at my first consultation?

Yes, if your problem is appropriate for Osteopathic treatment. If the examination reveals that you need a referral the Osteopath will arrange this.

What should I wear?

You may be asked to undress down to your underwear for the Osteopath to make an assessment. Please feel free to wear shorts and a vest top if this would make you feel more comfortable.

Does Osteopathic treatment hurt?

Osteopathic treatment is not painful. Your Osteopath will talk you through all the techniques used during the treatment and check that you are happy.

What should I expect after Osteopathic treatment?

You can be a little sore after the treatment and this can last for 24 – 48 hours. Your Osteopath will advise you if this is likely to be the case and help you to do the right things to manage it.

How can I help myself after Osteopathic treatment?

After your treatment you should move around gently and drink plenty of water to help your body recover. You should not do any strenuous exercise or heavy work after you are treated. If you are given exercises by your Osteopath you should not start them until the day after your treatment.
